Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a caring and compassionate Respiratory Therapist who will provide high quality respiratory care for children and adult residents. Respiratory Therapists at Heinzerling Community have the opportunity to support some of our most vulnerable residents to live their best lives every day!

SUMMARY: The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for overseeing respiratory care under the orders of the Medical Director. The RT is responsible for completion of all documentation, communication, maintenance of respiratory equipment and continuing training and competency of staff related to respiratory needs of residents, including those receiving ventilator support.

Summary of Duties

  • Provide high quality respiratory therapy services for Heinzerling Community residents
  • Manage acute and chronic respiratory care for residents in collaboration with the Medical Director and Nursing team
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of respiratory-related policies and procedures
  • Provide training for staff who are working with residents needing respiratory assistance. Assesses knowledge and skills of staff who provide direct respiratory services
  • Develop respiratory-related education for staff and families and trains them annually and as needed to ensure competency.
  • Evaluate, track, and maintain respiratory-related equipment

Requires a valid license or permit for practicing respiratory care. Chronic care and experience with ventilators preferred. Experience with the Developmental Disabilities population and experience with individuals with highly complex continuous needs is preferred.

Must have current Ohio state license of active status without disciplinary actions. Must possess and maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid.
