    Respiratory Therapist

    Job Details:

    The Staff Respiratory Therapist III performs medically prescribed general, intermediate, and intensive respiratory care as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team under the guidance and direction of the Neonatal or Pediatric Coordinator. Professional duties include: Oxygen Therapy, Bland and Medicated Aerosol Therapy, Airway Clearance Techniques, Assisted Ventilation Techniques, Blood Gas Sampling and Analysis, Non-Invasive Blood Gas Monitoring, Airway Management, Mechanical Ventilation, CPR, Bedside Pulmonary Function Testing, Sleep Assessment, Breathing Retraining, Home Care Instruction, Patient/ Parent Education and Smoking Cessation Counseling, In-House and Ambulance Transport.

    Department Specific Job Details:

    The pediatric respiratory care team at Dayton Children’s is comprised of licensed respiratory care professionals who work closely with physicians, nurses and other specialists to provide a high level of care. The pediatric respiratory therapists provide care for children of all ages helping to treat respiratory diseases and illnesses including asthma, cystic fibrosis, congenital diseases, and others. The department also offers asthma education and smoking cessation counseling.

    Basic Function:

    This position is responsible for directing all operational, administrative, instructional, and financial activities for the Respiratory Therapy Associate and bachelor programs across all locations. 

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    This full-time position (non-tenure track) mandated by the accrediting body, CoARC, and requires a master’s degree and four years of relevant clinical experience with 2 years of teaching or clinical preceptor experience in a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy. Valid registered respiratory therapy credential and current valid Ohio license to practice RCP. Accepted candidate will be responsible for curriculum design, program administration, evaluation, instruction, academic advising, and provide teaching and direction for the Respiratory Therapy Department.
