Forrest Bird Award Announcement

Dr. Bird established the Forrest M. Bird Lifetime Scientific Achievement Award with a grant to the American Respiratory Care Foundation (ARCF) in 1983 to recognize outstanding individual scientific contributions in the area of respiratory care of cardiopulmonary disorders. The award is presented during the AARC International Respiratory Convention & Exhibition each year.

As many Respiratory Therapists and Physicians know, Dr. Bird was known throughout the world for inventing the first modern ventilator in the 1950s. During his career, Dr. Bird’s continued contributions have allowed clinicians to save the lives of many patients.

This year at the AARC Convention, Teresa Volsko, MBA, RRT, FAARC will be recognized as the recipient of the Forrest M Bird Lifetime Scientific Achievement Award. Teresa is also the first female to receive the Forrest M. Bird Award. Please join us in congratulating Teresa Volsko on her distinguished accomplishments.
