As a Respiratory Therapist at Twilight Gardens, you will play a critical role in the assessment, treatment, and management of residents with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, including evaluation of lung sounds, oxygenation status, and overall cardiopulmonary condition
  • Initiate, manage, and monitor oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and bronchial hygiene therapies in accordance with physician orders
  • Set up, operate, and manage mechanical ventilation systems, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
  • Monitor ventilator settings and patient response, making adjustments within scope and communicating changes to physicians as needed
  • Perform airway management, including suctioning, tracheostomy care, and support for artificial airways
  • Conduct pulse oximetry and, when applicable, assist with arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation and response
  • Respond to changes in patient condition, including respiratory distress, and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings to support optimal patient outcomes
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on respiratory conditions, treatments, and equipment use
  • Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of respiratory equipment in accordance with infection control standards
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs to maintain continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and facility standards
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control, and compliance guidelines

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or acute care preferred, but not required

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

  • Active State Respiratory Care Practitioner License
